About YourTel America
YourTel America was founded as The Pager Company in 1995 with one location and 3 employees. The company was started to offer low cost communications products to people who could not otherwise afford to stay in touch. Our typical customer was a single parent who needed a low cost way to keep in touch. Our first product, the pager was the ideal way for families to communicate. Many of these customers could not lease a pager, and did not have a home telephone. Many local rental companies offered pagers for these people, but the cost was excessive.
In 1997, prepaid cellular products were added to our product line offering two way wireless communications for those with limited means. It is a low cost alternative to traditional cellular phone offerings. Many of our customers use these phones as their only means of communications. We have several carrier options and prepaid wireless plans. Additionally we also offer traditional calling plans with many advanced features built into their phones. We currently offer T-Mobile Wireless, Verizon Wireless, Boost Wireless and Cricket Wireless giving us the best selection possible for our customers.
Many of our customers, however, still do not have affordable access to a home telephone. It is these customers we continue serving by adding prepaid home telephone service as a reseller of AT&T. Unlike the competition, again we offer better customer service, and a much FAIRER price. Competitors offer service for $49.95 - $69.95 per month. We offer the same service for $29.95. Customers who qualify for our Lifeline discount can receive an extra discount based on state guidelines and qualifications.
The key to our success, is the customer experience. We handle our customers personally. They do not have to call an out of town customer service department or remit payment through the mail. They can pay their bill at any location, as well as our drive-thru window. Our competition thinks it is acceptable to overcharge and under serve this market niche because they think the customer does not have a choice. They do, and they have chosen YourTel America.
A second core element to our strategy is to be the provider of choice for the Spanish speaking community. Many of our stores are staffed with bilingual sales representatives and some locations have bilingual managers. Our back office provisioning department is managed by a bilingual and her staff is 50% bilingual. This bilingual aspect goes deeper than the surface because our employees and managers have a voice in how the company is run and they are committed to making the customer experience for our Spanish speaking customers as enjoyable as it is for all of our customers.
Currently YourTel America has 17 retail locations in 3 states. We have 6 locations in the Kansas City metropolitan area (4 in Missouri, 2 in Kansas), 1 locations in St. Joseph, MO, 2 locations in St. Louis, MO, and 8 locations in Oklahoma (5 in Oklahoma City, 2 in Tulsa, and 1 in Lawton).
